A Air Via Airbus A320-200, registration LZ-MDB performing flight VL-501 from Varna (Bulgaria) to Leipzig (Germany), landed short while on approach to Leipzig's runway 08R, bounced and touched down a second time onto the piano keys (just past the runway threshold) of the runway with the tail contacting the runway surface at about 12:57L (10:57Z). The aircraft rolled out without further incident but sustained substantial damage to the tail.
An observer on the ground reported the aircraft touched down short of the runway, briefly lifted off again and touched down a second time in a very nose high attitude, the tail impacted the runway surface just at the runway threshold with a loud noise before the aircraft settled on the runway.
Photographic evidence shows the aircraft with the tail contacting the runway surface while just past the runway threshold on the threshold markings (also known as "piano keys").
