Da AvHerald :
An Airlines of PNG (Papua New Guinea) de Havilland DHC-6-300 Twin Otter, registration P2-MCB performing flight CG-4684 from Port Moresby to Efogi and further on to the Kokoda Trail (Papua New Guinea) with 11 passengers and 2 crew, is overdue at Kokoda for more than 10 hours. The airplane was scheduled to arrive in Efogi at 9:55am local (Aug 10th 23:55Z) and at the Kokoda Trail at 10:15am local (0:15Z). The airplane should have been back to Port Moresby by 11am local (01:00Z).
The airplane has not been located on any alternate airfield. No ELT signal was received. A search has been launched, but was suspended after dusk.
Authorities say however, that based on testimonies of villagers the general vicinity of the crash site has been identified.
Weather was decribed poor (overcast) at the Kokoda Trail located in the mid of rugged terrain and mountains. Another flight turned back to Port Moresby when they could not land at Kokoda due to rain and overcast cloud. Another airplane, one of three departing Port Moresby for Kokoda on Tuesday, made it into Kokoda.
Papua New Guinea's Department for Foreign Affairs said, that the airplane actually departed Port Moresby at 09:53am local with some delay. Last radio contact with the airplane was while it was on approach to Kokoda.
Aviation Sources in Papua New Guinea say, that the crew had aborted their first approach to Kokoda, but when they heard, that a plane following them had landed, attempted a second approach and disappeared during that attempt.

Re: DHC6 disperso in Papua New Guinea
