EURO HAWK®, a trans-Atlantic partnership between Northrop Grumman and Cassidian, is the first international configuration of the combat-proven RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) UAS built by Northrop Grumman. It is also the first operational HALE signals intelligence (SIGINT) UAS in Europe.
It will be equipped with a SIGINT mission system developed by Cassidian. Capable of flying up to 60,000 feet for more than 30 hours, EURO HAWK® will provide standoff capability to detect electronic and communications emitters.

Incredibile cosa si riesce a fare.
Ma ho una domanda, l'aereo era "pilotato" o completamente unmanned?
Sapevo che tutti i test di volo del progetto Barracuda sono stati svolti in Canada perchè diverse normative vietavano il volo sul territorio tedesco.
O per caso ha una certificazione particolare?
Bellissimi anche la flare e l'atteraggio, millimetrici!

Non proprio lo stesso ruolo del predator (RQ-1) e/o MQ-9 Reaper/Guardian.
I modelli sviluppati dalla General Atomics sono più performanti come prestazioni in un ruolo più tattico che strategico. Anche se effettivamente i modelli B del Predator ( Reaper e Guardian) hanno prestazioni nettamente superiori alle prime versioni, grazie all'adozione di un motore turboelica che ne incrementa il ceilin operativo, il range, il carico utile ( sensori e munizionamento) la velocità e anche la capacità di operare in condizioni meteo più proibitive rispetto prima ( sistema anti/de ice). Inoltre il Globalhawk o Eurohawk non ha la possibilità se non erro di condurre missioni con armamento. Ma forse perchè si colloca in un ambito ben più "strategico" per l'appunto. Negli USA è stato celto per il programma BAMS ( Broad Area maritime Surveillance) in complemento con i prossimi P-8 Poseidon per il pattugliamento marittimo e missioni SIGINT.
Anche se General Atomics ha risposto con la versione Guardian del MQ-9... Inomma la guerra degli UAV è in corso!!
Vediamo come si comporterà EADS con il programma Talarion visto quello che stanno combinando Dassault e BAEsystem...
