Fatal UN plane crash in DR Congo's Kinshasa airport

A UN plane has crashed at Kinshasa airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo, killing at least 10 people, UN sources say.

The plane broke into several pieces when it hit the runway as the pilot was trying to land amid heavy rain at about 1300 GMT, according to witnesses.

The plane had reportedly flown from Kisangani in the country's north east.

The UN has yet to comment officially on the incident.

Lo ha reso noto il servizio stampa delle Nazioni Unite, precisando che i passeggeri erano 29 e l'equipaggio era formato da almeno altre quattro persone. Secondo la Reuters, che cita fonti dell'Onu, i morti sarebbero una decina, mentre secondo un giornalista della France Presse i morti sarebbero 16.

Joseph Kikokbo, an official in Congo's health ministry, said at least 20 of the 32 passengers and crew had died after the plane lost control in high winds, and veered of the runway as it came in to land on Monday.

"We sent eight people to hospital who were still breathing, but I don't know whether they survived," he said. "Both the pilots were killed."

A UN source, who asked not to be named, said "the plane landed heavily, broke into two and caught fire."

The victims are thought to have included UN staff, but their identities and nationalities were not immediately known.

A Reuters correspondent at the airport said the Bombardier CRJ-300 jet was completely destroyed and the wreckage was lying at the end of the runway.

L’ILS, il sistema di atterraggio strumentale nella cabina di volo, segnala al pilota condizioni atmosferiche pericolose.

Ma da dove prendono queste info ?? ahahahah
