Welcome back Garuda Indonesia

Potrà quindi tornare a solcare i cieli europei.

Auguri e Bentornata!

Max,
no peccato, niente MD11 per me.

Indonesia's Garuda Airline Plans Expansion After EU Ban Lift

Indonesia's Garuda Airline Plans Expansion After EU Lifts Safety BanShare
Friday, 17 July 2009 at 10:14
JAKARTA -- Indonesia's state-owned airline plans to start flying to Europe next year and take other steps to expand its operations after the European Union lifted a two-year ban on selected Indonesian carriers in response to the country's efforts to improve safety standards.
Emirsyah Satar, the chief executive of Garuda Indonesia, the country's flagship carrier, said Garuda would fly first to Amsterdam in the first half of 2010 and would look at other destinations in Europe after that. As part of its planned expansion -- which will double its fleet to 116 aircraft in the next five years, including larger Boeing 777s and Airbus 330-200s -- Garuda is also interested in flying to the U.S., which it doesn't currently serve, Mr. Satar said.

On Tuesday, the European Union lifted a flight ban on Garuda and three other Indonesian operators -- Mandala Airlines, a low-cost carrier that is controlled by U.S. private equity firm Indigo Partners; cargo operator PremiAir; and Airfast, which runs charter flights. :)

LONDON, KOMPAS.com — Managing Director and CEO of Garuda Indonesia, Emirsyah Satar said that the airline is ready to fly once again to Europe. They're preparing everything properly to start flying to Europe again. He stated this at the Indonesian bridge of London WTM, Wednesday.

Before the discussion that took place at the North Gallery Room, Excel Building, London, Emirsyah Satar stated that Garuda Indonesia would start serving flights to Europe, especially to Amsterdam, in June 2010. According to him, Garuda has done various preparation since 9 months before the opening of the Jakarta-Amsterdam route.

The flight route offered by Garuda will use the 330-200 Airbus for Jakarta-Dubai-Amsterdam every day. "And when the Boeing 737-800 ordered by Garuda arrives, then the direct flight between Amsterdam and Jakarta won't have to transit in Dubai anymore," he said.

Garuda is also cooperating with KLM Airline for maintenance and repairs of Garuda airplanes in Amsterdam and vice versa. The people of The European Union recently retracted the flight ban for a number of Indonesian airlines, including Garuda Indonesia. (C17-09)

Garuda Indonesian airline to suspend HCM City, Jakarta route

Messaggio da Flyingblueboy »

•Garuda Indonesian airline to suspend HCM City, Jakarta route
Nov 21, 2009 - VNBusinessNews.com - Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has announced the suspension of its daily service between Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta via Singapore from November 25 to December 31.

The national airline told Tuoi Tre it is offering refunds for customers who booked flights during the suspension period.

The Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam said it has yet to receive the airline’s suspension notice.

Launched in 2004, the route takes one hour and 45 minutes from HCMC to Singapore, and another half an hour in transit before boarding the connecting flight to Jakarta.

About 70 percent of passengers flying between HCMC and Jakarta travel for business while most passengers on the HCMC – Bali via Jakarta or Singapore route are holidaymakers, The Saigon Times Daily reported.

The airline is using Boeing 737-400s which can carry up to 188 passengers.

Garuda Indonesia is also planning to open a new direct route between the two directions next year.

But the airline said it needed more time to promote Indonesian attractions to Vietnamese tourists.

The carrier’s current network covers 45 destinations, four of which are Southeast Asian destinations, including Bangkok, HCMC, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Garuda, KLM sign cooperation agreement

Tuesday, December 8, 2009 22:51 WIB Denpasar (ANTARA News) - PT Garuda Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding with Dutch airline company KLM here on Tuesday to realize its plan to reopen flight services to Europe.

The company`s president director, Emirsyah Satar, reaffirmed Garuda`s plan to reopen its services to Europe in June next year.

Under the MoU, the two companies would for an initial stage jointly serve the Singapore-Denpasar vice versa route.

"The cooperation is the initial stage of the company`s program for developing the business and preparations for the reopening of Garuda services to Europe in June in 2010," Emirsyah Satar said.

He said the cooperation would also serve as a strategy to increase frequency to meet customers` demand.

So far Garuda was serving the Singapore-Denpasar route seven times a week and KLM three times a week as part of its Amsterdam-Singapore service.

On June 1, 2010, Garuda Indonesia would start serving the Jakarta-Amsterdam route via Dubai.

Peter Hartman, the president and CEO of KLM, meanwhile said this cooperation would be of mutual benefit to the two companies.

"With the cooperation, Garuda and KLM have taken a significant step in extending the cooperation that has been built so far," he said.

The marketing director of the ministry of tourism, Saptar Nirwandar, said he hoped the cooperation would help increase foreign tourist arrivals in Bali.

"Bali has the world`s best Senare Per Aqua or Spa. Bali has a lot of unique attractions, particularly Hindu culture which tourists could enjoy," he said.

Vice minister of transportation, Bambang Susantono, meanwhile said opportunities would be opened when Garuda joined in the effort to develop the European market.

"We hope Garuda can become a genuine player and not a mere substitute player of the European aviation industry," he said.

He said there would be winners and losers in business but "we hope Garuda will continue to progress and attract more passengers."(*)

Garuda Indonesia will return to Europe after an absence of five years from June 1 next year.

The introduction of daily services from Jakarta to Amsterdam via Dubai marks a significant step forward in the airline’s global network expansion strategy. Amsterdam will be the first of a number of key European cities such as Frankfurt, Paris and London Garuda Indonesia has planned for its European expansion over the next few years.

The Amsterdam route will initially be serviced by the airline’s fleet of technically advanced A330-200 aircraft, featuring Garuda’s new exterior and interior design inspired by the energy of nature’s wings. In Executive Class the aircraft offers fully reclining flat bed seats with 74 inch seat pitch.

Garuda Indonesia President Emirsyah Satar said the return of Garuda Indonesia to Europe was a significant milestone for the carrier, while the Amsterdam service reflects the continued cultural connection between Indonesia and the Netherlands.

“We have set an aggressive five year growth strategy for the airline that will allow Garuda to take its place alongside other leading international airlines in the Asia Pacific region.

Establishing a strong presence in Europe is an important element of meeting these targets.

Along with new aircraft, new routes and increased frequency around the network, Garuda is investing heavily in developing a service culture built around the Garuda Indonesia Experience both in the air and on the ground, Mr Satar said.

The new A330-200 aircraft features individual touch-screen LCD screens in all classes; the state of art inflight entertainment system with Audio & Video On Demand (AVOD) delivers a choice of 25 feature films, 250 audio tracks and 25 video games.

Garuda asks Banten for human resources
Multa Fidrus , The Jakarta Post , Serang | Thu, 12/17/2009 6:59 PM | Jakarta

National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has asked the Banten provincial administration to help it meet its manpower demand, following a plan to expand its fleet from 60 to 114 over the next four years.

Garuda business support official Boedi Soeharto said the company needed 1,000 more flight attendants as a consequence of its expansion plan.

"We’ll have to recruit as many as 1,000 people to work as flight attendants and therefore we hope the Banten administration can help us," he said after a meeting with Banten Governor Ratu Atut Chosiah in the provincial capital Serang on Thursday.

Ratu Atut said the provincial administration was willing to help out.

"Garuda requires workers with good skills such as English proficiency, not just good physical appearance," she said.
